What Is The Diana Instant Back + ?

The Diana Instant Back + is one of the many attachments from Lomography that you can get for the Diana F+ Camera. These nifty attachments make your Diana a lot like the polaroids of your childhood.

The attachment slides onto the Diana F+ taking it from a 120mm film camera to an instant one. Unlike the polaroid camera it produces credit card sized photos. The film for these babies will not send you broke like the old polaroids. It uses the easy to find Fuji Instax Mini Film, which you can easily pick up.

I recommend buying it through eBay rather than the Lomography site. They sell 10 lots of film (100 photos) for around $80.00 on eBay, making it very affordable for the average weekend photographer. Also check out the cartoon inspired films, Pooh, Lilo and Stitch, Disney Princesses etc, perfect for kids or kids at heart.
The photos take about 90sec to develop opposed to 5min for the polaroid, so if your anything like me and you need instant results, this will be your new best friend.

Of course all the usual attachments that are available for the Diana F+ can be used with the Instant Back. Items such as the Spitzer+, Coloursplash Flash, 38mm (super-wide lens), 55mm (wide angle and close up lens), 20mm (Fish eye lens) and the 110mm (telephoto lens).Overall the slick and trendy style of the Diana F+ Camera combined with the Instant Back out weighs any polaroid, even though the photos are smaller, you can achieve many more results.

How to Load Film in the New Lomography Diana Mini

Having trouble loading film in your new Diana Mini? Here we have a simple tutorial on how to properly load your film to ensure perfect shots every time.

If you love your digital camera but are getting more serious in photography, you probably purchased the mini (or a camera similar) to expand your photography capabilities. Or if you used film in the past and are deciding to get back into this wonderful style. You are probably here for the same reason.

Loading the film in a diana mini could be very confusing when you first purchase it. But once you learn the easy way it couldn't be simpler. The first thing you should do is take a couple of blank shots to ensure everything is working properly.

Slip off the back cover with the lever that says lomography on the bottom, put the new roll of 35mm film on the left side facing down, pull some film across the camera and align it with the sprockets till it goes past the yellow line. But you should still make sure you don't pull a lot of film out because the spindle will not be able to grab your film.

After you have the film aligned on the sprockets, turn the advance wheel in the direction the arrow is pointing. It may take a couple tries to get the film spinning properly, this causes the most trouble even for experienced lomographers. I usually give it a half turn to make sure its advancing the film right and don't end up with a mess at the end.

Once you set the film and its advancing correctly, make sure to always double check the film is still sitting on the sensor sprocket "right under the viewfinder". Once everything is good you just flip the pressure plate back, slip the cover on making sure its closed properly and your ready to shoot!

Once you shot the entire roll and are ready to get your lomographs developed, press the reset button which is the little pin on the bottom right-hand side you will hear a click. Pull out the handle for the film rewind and gently spin it. Be careful in this step there shouldn't be any resistance. If there is resistance, hold the reset button down the entire time while you rewind the film.

Action Sampler Takes Four Lomos in One

That is something that has been bothering your mind for some time now when you heard of the Action Sampler. And you certainly just cannot believe that there is such a thing. Perhaps if it was said that the Action Sampler could take four different shots with just one press of a button and just hold it down while the camera takes all shots, then it is very much possible. Lomography practices your budgeting balance as it makes you consider the holy trinity you'll need so shell out cast for: the camera, the rolls of film, and the developing costs. Accessories are optional

For film rolls I suggest beginning with the cheapest ones you can find easily available at most photo developing centers. Then experiment with film brand (yes Fujifilm and Kodak look different!) and types (I'm a fan of the oversaturated ones).

As for developing films, get your rolls processed as Film-to-CD in places like Digiprint (which will even deliver your new DVD release at your doorstep!), where your photos will be compiles in JPEG format ina Cd, shipped with your negatives for keeps.

I travel with three (okay, sometimes four) cameras in hand-my trusty Diana Mini, my phone camera, a digital SLR, and sometimes my fuji Instax. When I feel like I've seen enough digital pictures of a certain places I'll take out my analogue camera, snap away, and get secretly giddy with excitement. Whether grainy, blurry, or miraculously perfect, I know that when my Lomography photos come out, it's going to boggle me and make me see my latest travel destination as I've never seen it myself before.
